Here are five Disney resorts that deserve a spot on your family’s radar.
1. Animal Kingdom Lodge
If your child loves animals, Animal Kingdom Lodge can feel absolutely magical. Many families assume this resort is better suited for adults because it’s a little farther from the parks. But once you experience it through a child’s eyes, it’s easy to understand why so many families fall in love with it. Imagine opening your curtains in the morning and seeing giraffes, zebras, and other animals roaming outside your room. A Savanna View room can turn an ordinary hotel stay into an unforgettable part of the vacation.
Even beyond the rooms, there’s plenty for kids to enjoy. The resort features animal viewing areas, great pools, a shaded playground, and activities designed specifically for younger guests. One of our advisors mentioned that after staying there with her daughter, they now make a point to visit the resort even when staying elsewhere because her daughter loved it so much.

2. The Polynesian Resort
If convenience is your top priority, it’s hard to beat the Polynesian. Parents of young children know that transportation can make or break a Disney vacation. Strollers, diaper bags, tired little legs, and folded-up gear can quickly turn a simple trip back to the hotel into a challenge. That’s where the Polynesian shines. Being able to roll a stroller directly onto the monorail without folding it up is a huge advantage when visiting Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. For families spending a lot of time in the parks, that convenience adds up quickly.
Transportation isn’t the only reason families love the Polynesian. The tropical atmosphere feels fun and exciting for kids, the splash play area is perfect for younger children, and parents appreciate being able to keep a close eye on little ones while they play. Add in character dining, excellent dining options, and views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks, and it’s easy to see why so many families return again and again.
For families with toddlers and preschoolers, the Polynesian checks nearly every box.
3. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground
This may be the most surprising resort on our list. When people think of Disney vacations, they don’t always think of Fort Wilderness. Families who stay here often become lifelong fans.
One reason is that it offers something many young families desperately need: a break from the parks. Disney days can be exciting, but they can also be overstimulating for little kids. Fort Wilderness provides space to slow down and enjoy quality family time without feeling like you’re missing out on the Disney experience. Families can enjoy pony rides, outdoor recreation, campfire activities, playgrounds, and plenty of room for kids to run and explore. The relaxed atmosphere feels completely different from the hustle and bustle of the parks.
Another favorite feature is the boat transportation to Magic Kingdom. It’s convenient, scenic, and often becomes an attraction all by itself for younger children. 4. Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts
At first glance, Yacht & Beach Club may not seem like an obvious choice for young children. Then you see the pool.
Stormalong Bay is often considered one of the best resort pools at Walt Disney World, and for many families, it’s worth choosing the resort for that reason alone.
Beyond the pool, the location is what makes these resorts especially appealing. Being within walking distance of EPCOT gives families easy access to one of Disney’s most underrated parks for younger children. While many people automatically prioritize Magic Kingdom, we have seen plenty of families discover that their kids absolutely love exploring EPCOT.
One advisor shared a story about visiting during the Festival of the Arts, where the kids spent the day collecting snacks, completing activity maps, and participating in scavenger hunts. It ended up being everyone’s favorite day of the trip. Sometimes the best Disney memories aren’t the ones you plan for.

5. Art of Animation Resort
Of course, we couldn’t create this list without mentioning Art of Animation. While many families start their Disney vacation search looking at Value Resorts, Art of Animation stands out because it delivers so much more than most people expect.
The larger-than-life Disney theming immediately captures the attention of young children. Walking through the resort feels like stepping into their favorite movies, whether that’s Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King, or The Little Mermaid. Families consistently tell us that their kids are amazed by the colorful characters and immersive atmosphere.
Another huge advantage is the Skyliner. Having easy access to both EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios without relying solely on buses can make traveling around Walt Disney World much easier with little ones. Perhaps the biggest compliment we hear is that families are often surprised by how much value they’re getting for the price.
