New Monsters, Inc. Inspired Land Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

It’s laughter they’re after at Walt Disney World! A brand new Monsters, Inc. inspired land is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World! The announcement was released to the public at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event – an event in Anaheim, California where Disney fans gather as the Walt Disney Company showcases its new developments in its theme parks, entertainment, and other experiences around the globe.

Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences with the Walt Disney Company, took the stage in Anaheim to release exciting new details about the developments coming to Walt Disney World. During the presentation, he invited Disney Legend Billy Crystal, the voice of beloved character Mike Wazowski, to the stage to announce a brand-new Monsters, Inc. inspired land. Guests will be able to visit the city of Monstropolis, and the city will be powered by their laughter. The Laugh Factory will be open for guests to tour, and Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster will be placed inside.

Josh D’Amaro explained the thrilling coaster by saying, “I don’t know about all you guys, but the first time I saw Monsters, Inc., all I wanted to do was zoom through the door vault like Mike and Sully, right? We’re gonna make that happen! …And do you remember in the movie how those claws they grab the doors, they hoist them up into the air, and they take them away? Yep, we’re gonna do that too, and you’re going along for the ride!”

The Monsters, Inc. inspired land will be built in Hollywood Studios, and construction is set to begin in 2025. The exact location of the land is unknown, but speculation is that it will be built in Grand Avenue (previously known as Muppets Courtyard) or in Animation Courtyard, which is the area next to Toy Story Land.
