Following in the path of Venice and Amsterdam, the small Swiss village of Lauterbrunnen is considering charging tourists to visit. This small scenic village has become a popular spot for tourists to experience nearby Staubbach Falls, which has been a popular social media photo spot. SwissInfo reports that Lauterbrunnen has experienced “congested streets, car parks and public transport, rubbish-strewn roads and higher rents”

It would seem that popular European cities are all finding new ways to combat the overcrowding of their cities and villages. Venice daily charge, which can be executed on a guests mobile device, have gone into effect. All tourists over the age of 14 will have to pay $5 per day if they are not staying the night in the city. Amsterdam has taken similar measures to combat its 2,300 cruise ships docked in 2023 alone.

If you have an upcoming European trip make sure to discuss any daily fees with your 407&Beyond travel agent.
