Rookie Mistakes to Avoid at Disneyland

Visiting the parks can be intimidating and it’s hard to know where to start! So here are a few things to keep in mind when visiting any Disney Park.
Visiting the parks can be intimidating and it’s hard to know where to start! So here are a few things to keep in mind when visiting any Disney Park.
📝 Make a list! Think of a few things you can’t miss like getting a specific churro, riding the Matterhorn, or finding Mickey Mouse! Doing this can give you some direction on where to start your morning. If riding Rise of the Resistance is at the top of your list, you may want to consider rope dropping and getting to the park early to avoid a few long lines.
📍Not using the disney app. Everything you need is in the app. maps, wait times, restroom locations, mobile ordering, guest services and more! familiarize yourself with it before hand.
📆Over planning! Start with a plan like what ride you want to do first or direction you want to take in the park. Are you going to head straight to Star Wars land or Adventure Land? After a that, go with the flow, watch wait times and let that be your guide. Trying to plan your entire day can be stressful when things start to run behind.
💰Buying a Park Hopper when you don’t need it. Most first timers don’t need a hopper ticket but they’ve hear its the way to go. Now don’t get me wrong, park hopping is amazing if you know your way around the parks and have a couple trips under your belt. But with small kids or a large group it will probably be easier (and cheaper) to dedicate each day to one park.
🏨Sleeping In. there are lots of vacations where sleeping in and relaxing at the hotel are acceptable but if you are looking for low wait times and want to maximize your time, GET UP EARLY! The first 2 hours after the park opens have the lowest crowds. So start early and take a break later in the day. Arriving at least 60 minutes before opening for rope drop is great way to get the most out of your day.
🎒Forget to bring the basics. You don’t need much but having a few things on hand can really help. Top of the list- Ibuprofen. Headaches, sore feet loud rides, etc. you will be glad you have some on hand. Portable battery for your phone. You will be using it for wait times, to view the park map, and taking way too many photos 😉 You will need a backup. Comfortable shoes you will be standing. A lot. A handheld fan If you are in the parks in the summer, having a small handheld fan or neck fan can make a huge difference when standing in line in the sun.
🧑‍🍼Not using Rider Swap. If you are traveling with small children, most rides with height restrictions will offer a “rider Swap” meaning You can have an adult wait with the child while the rest of your group enjoy the ride. Then, the waiting adult can swap and skip the line through the lightning lane (along with 3 guests, *usually). To take advantage of rider swap simply check with the cast member at the end of the line and they will instruct you from there.
😖Trying to do everything. There is actually a challenge floating around the internet to try to ride every ride in the park in one day. Its nearly impossible so please don’t be disappointed when you can’t fit everything in.
🌦Watch the weather forecast. Be prepared for rain or blazing heat. Rain ponchos or sunblock
Most Importantly! Not using a Disney travel Planner We take the stress out if your travel and make your plans for you so all you have to do is show up and make memories! Don’t turn down free services, Disney pays me, not you and i can help you with all the details to make your trip amazing!
